The short version: you buy the game once and it is yours to play whenever you like. There will be no paid DLC and no microtransactions. You may record it, stream it and monetise those videos. Early Access is an unfinished game and I say so plainly.
1. What you are buying
Buying Last Store on Earth grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play the game on your devices for non-commercial use. You do not acquire ownership of the game or its contents.
The purchase, delivery, billing and library management are handled by Steam (Valve Corporation) under their own terms, which you accept separately when buying there.
2. You pay once
Last Store on Earth is bought once. I commit to this game having no paid downloadable content, microtransactions, virtual currencies, loot boxes, season passes or any other additional charge. Content updates to the game will be free to anyone who bought it.
If I publish a different game one day, that will be a separate product with its own price. What will not happen is being charged twice for this one.
3. Early Access
The game will launch in Early Access first — the date will be announced later on. That means, without dressing it up, that it is not finished:
- There will be bugs, half-polished corners and systems that change shape as they go.
- Save files may stop being compatible between versions. I will warn you before that happens.
- Planned features may slip, change or be dropped if they do not work in practice.
- There is no guaranteed date for 1.0.
Buy the game for what it is today, not for what it promises to become. If what is there right now is not worth it to you, wait for the finished version.
4. Refunds
Refunds are handled by Steam under their refund policy, which generally covers the first two weeks if you have played under two hours. I cannot process refunds myself, but if you have a problem Steam will not resolve, write to me and I will see what I can do.
5. Video, streaming and content creators
You have permission to record, stream and publish videos of Last Store on Earth on any platform, including monetising them through advertising, subscriptions or donations. No need to ask or notify me.
All I ask:
- Do not imply a video is sponsored by the studio when it is not.
- Do not redistribute the game files or help people get it outside Steam.
- Do not use the game's material for hateful, harassing or deliberately misleading content.
The soundtrack and sound effects are covered by this permission for video purposes. If a platform files a claim against you over audio from this game, write to me and I will clear it up.
6. What you may not do
- Copy, sell, rent or redistribute the game or its files.
- Decompile or reverse-engineer beyond what applicable law allows.
- Remove authorship or intellectual property notices.
- Use the game's assets (models, textures, music, text) in other projects without written permission.
Modding: tinkering with your own copy for personal use is fine by me. Distributing mods is a different question; the game has no official mod support today and there is no settled policy. If you are interested, ask me.
7. Intellectual property
The game, its name, logo, code, art, music and text belong to Valentín Stancu / King Island Studio, except for licensed third-party assets used in the project, which remain with their authors.
8. Warranty and liability
The game is provided "as is". I take as much care as I am capable of, but I cannot guarantee it will run without faults on every possible hardware configuration, or that it will be available without interruption.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights, which in the European Union cannot be waived.
9. This website
The contents of kingislandstudio.com are provided for information. Screenshots and press material published on the press page may be used freely to cover the game.
10. Changes to these Terms
If they change, the date at the top changes and I write about it in the devlog. Changes do not apply retroactively to a purchase already made.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence and to use any out-of-court dispute resolution available to you.
12. Contact
hello@kingislandstudio.com. You get me, not a bot.
The Spanish version is the authoritative one. Translations are provided for convenience; in case of conflict, the Spanish text prevails.
